These worksheets help you capture what your GIS department needs to keep working during a disruption. Each one comes in Word, so you can type into it, and PDF, so you can print it.
All four worksheets in one packet
Every worksheet below in a single file. A good choice if you plan to print them or share them with your team.
Worksheet 1: What Can’t Stop
List the GIS services you provide, test which ones support life safety or other essential work, and choose the three that can’t wait.
Worksheet 2: What It Runs On
For each of your top three services, note the people, software, data, place and partners it needs, and find where there is no backup.
Worksheet 3: If You’re Out Tomorrow
Check who could step in for each critical service, and whether they could find the sign-ins, instructions and contacts they need.
Worksheet 4: Your Next 30 Days
Turn your gaps into three first steps, and prepare questions for a short meeting with your emergency manager.
How to use these worksheets
- Start with your biggest gap. You don't need to do them all. Pick the one that covers what your team knows least about today.
- Share them with your team. The people who do the work often know the details best. Hand out a worksheet and ask each person to fill in what they know.
- Blanks are useful too. If you can't answer a question, write "Unknown." Finding a gap is as useful as filling one in.
- Keep them together. Save your completed worksheets in one place. They make a strong starting point for your continuity plan.
